Herringbone at 45°, because this is where the cars turn.
The old asphalt could have been paved over. It would have looked identical for about two years. We took it out to 300 mm, proof-rolled with a loaded truck, and set the field in herringbone at 45° to the direction of travel — the only pattern that does not rotate open where a car turns into the garage.
